Fairy Tale Reflections

The 6 week class  is a little bit different than my regular story walking journeys. I'd like you to consider it an invitation to flirt with a whole bunch of fairy tales… as you bravely write one of your own. Like speed dating, we get to find out which tales scintillate, disgust, leave us cold or hit “too close to home". What are the stories that are threading through the landscape of your life? Which one could you be inside of right now? Old stories, myths, and fairy tales want to teach us – they want to mentor us in how to live. Not a “plastic, too pretty, 13-steps-to-living-better” but mentoring us with nitty gritty “realer than real” lessons.

The soul is a mythic creature and recognizes it’s own journey in the brave deeds, scary monsters and herculean tasks of fairy tale worlds. In our time together we’ll be using pivotal points in 15 tales as a way to explore deep truths about ourselves. Prepare to be surprised. Let yourself be led. You can trust that you will find what you are ready for.

I intentionally spread this into a slower pace than my daily prompt courses because I want you to have time to notice themes that are showing up in your life. There are three short video prompts a week. Most of them will work with nudges from a fairy tale using collage, doodling, writing and then three of them will bravely challenge you to play with constructing your own fairy tale. The art journal prompts are designed to be completed in under 15 minutes - though of course you can spend as long as your muse is inspired. The three writing challenges are liable to take longer and I invite you to trust the pace of your process.

We’ve all got silly scars from school so I’m going to boldly remind you - EVERYTHING IS OPTIONAL. You know yourself. Maybe doing it just how I lay it out will free you from overthinking the process. Or maybe you’d like to consider each prompt a ‘recipe’ that you can tweak - leaving out some ingredients or adding others. Skip some, do them all, stay with the order, mix it up. You’re the decider!

Thank you for joining me in this adult game of truth or dare. I love these inspired inquiries and I love you!
